Clint Black Accepts the ACM Poet's Award With Humility and Tears at the 2023 ACM Honors Gala: "I'm Very Moved"

Along with Mary Chapin Carpenter and K.T. Oslin, Clint Black was picked to receive the ACM Poet's Award this year.

During the 2023 ACM Honors ceremony, the country singer/songwriter was clearly moved to tears as he accepted the award in front of other artists,

members of the industry, and dedicated fans. He did this while thinking about his life up to that point.

There have been more than thirty number one songs by Black in the course of his great career. He wrote or co-wrote all of them.

This Texas-born artist went on to have 22 No. 1 singles and 30 top 10 hits, making him one of the most famous singer-songwriters of our time.

The "Killin' Time" singer said he was almost crying as he started his acceptance speech at the distinguished music event.

He had been watching other country artists get awards all night. Moments before he went on stage to accept his award, Black said he felt very fortunate to be a part of the country music community.

"I get so moved every time I see one of these wonderful recipients." Being able to see someone's life, work, and accomplishments laid out in front of them and honor them is something I love. It makes my heart swell up every time."
