Interview with Olivia Rodriguez on the Emo Song "All-American B-tch" and "Lacy"

During her recent visit to the Kelly Clarkson Show, Olivia Rodrigo did more than simply rave about Robert Pattinson and her Twilight-themed in-ear headphones. 

The 20-year-old pop sensation provided fresh context for a few of the lyrics on her September release,  

Guts, her sophomore album, in a recently-shared footage from the event. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. 

The first line Rodrigo discussed was the outro to her hit song "Lacy" from Guts, which is loved  ,

by many: "And I despise my jealous eyes and how hard they fell for you / Yeah, I despise my rotten mind and how much it worships you." 

She laughed and said, "Very emo of me, writing that," to Clarkson."I studied poetry at USC,"  

she added. "I really enjoyed the poem I wrote for one of the assignments, 'Lacy.'" "I'm going to make it into a song," 

I exclaimed.The eerie ballad has given rise to numerous fan theories about its subject matter,
