Jessica Chastain says she has "zero probability" of being in the "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" movie, even though fans want her to. She also says, "I'm sorry to disappoint everyone."

The first thing Jessica Chastain did in 2023 was tell Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" that she would read a story for a movie based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's best-selling book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo."

Fans have long wanted the Oscar-winning actor to play the lead role, which is an old Hollywood star who lives alone and thinks about her life in a final interview with an unknown reporter.

When asked about the fan casting, Chastain said, "I know there is something online about it." "Sure, do send me a script."

As the year comes to a close, Chastain has decided not to be in any more "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" movies. That there is "zero possibility" she'll play Evelyn Hugo in a movie, she recently told E! News (via IndieWire).

She also said, "I love how excited the fans are." "Every day when I worked on Broadway, they were outside with the books while I signed them." I love how great that group of fans is. I'm looking forward to seeing it, and I'm sorry to let everyone down!"

The novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid came out in 2017. In 2022, Netflix announced that it was making a movie based on the book, with Liz Tigelaar writing the story and Leslye Headland directing. In the spring, a video of Chastain refusing to sign a fan's copy of "Evelyn Hugo" went popular on social media. She later went on X (which was then called Twitter) to say why she said no.

"Fans have asked me to sign books more than once, but I'm not contractually bound to do so," Chastain wrote in April. "I'll say I can't sign because I'm not doing it because it feels wrong and like I'm taking credit for someone else's work." It doesn't mean I read a bad story.

Now that "Memory," her independent film, is out, Chastain is going around to promote it. The movie also stars Peter Sarsgaard, whose performance won him the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year. The movie opens in cinemas across the country on January 5.
