Lainey Wilson Sees a ‘Shift’ in Country Music Women's Success.

Despite having a few Top 40 singles of her own, singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson is well aware of how difficult it can be for women to succeed in the male-dominated world of country music.

After Wilson's performance at the Season 21 finale of American Idol, The Messenger caught up with her on the red carpet on Sunday.

Wilson admitted that women still struggle in our nation to be heard in the same ways that men do.

"It's hard for me to wrap my head around because there are so many talented women who have a story to tell," she said.

It's critical to hear both viewpoints. Both the girl's and the guy's perspectives must be heard.

According to a 2019 Taste of Country research, men are played on the radio five to nine times more frequently than women.

Similarly, a 2023 analysis by 19th News notes that women still make up only 16 percent of charting songs, while men make up 75 percent.

Wilson does, however, admit that "I do feel a little bit of a shift right now."
