Lamar Jackson leads 2023 NFL MVP chances in significant move; Brock Purdy drops to 4th.

Following Week 16, the 2023 NFL MVP race took an unexpected turn when Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.

According to BetMGM, emerged as the favorite after his team defeated Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas night.

As of Tuesday morning, Jackson (-160) is now the third favorite in as many weeks. Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys has a little advantage over Purdy for No. 1 after Week 14.

Purdy had a sizable lead over Jackson for the top place after Week 15, with Jackson coming in at No. 2. In Week 16, Jackson comfortably defeated Purdy in their head-to-head duel.

In the victory, the Ravens quarterback completed 252 yards of passing for two touchdowns in addition to 45 yards of rushing.

Purdy threw four interceptions in the defeat and had a career-worst 42.6 passing rating.With +1200, Purdy is now fourth in the race.

Christian McCaffrey, his 49ers colleague, has surged to No. 2 in the MVP chase at +400. 

Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins is ranked third at +900. Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills completes the top five at +1300.
