Man City's title dreams are being reassessed as a result of Aston Villa's arrival.

Pep Guardiola stated this week that he is confident Manchester City will win the Premier League this year, but he may have to change his mind after seeing Aston Villa.

Not only did Unai Emery's team defeat the defending champions at Villa Park on Wednesday,

but it also dominated the match in a way that very few teams have been able to do against a Guardiola-led squad since Emery took over as manager of Barcelona in 2008.

Leon Bailey's superb deflection effort helped Villa defeat Man City 1-0, but it only told half the story.

After the 11th minute, when striker Erling Haaland forced a rare save from Emi Martinez,

the home team had 22 shots while City was unable to make a significant attempt.

On that night, Villa appeared like serious contenders for the title, and City showed why this could be the year they give up the top spot.

After the game, Guardiola declared, "The better team won." "Aston Villa outperformed us. We had a great deal of difficulty creating some processes because they are quite physical and have a lot of control over various aspects.
