The Cowboys deny the Lions a late 2-point try, leaving them "confounded."

After a dubious call disallowed a go-ahead 2-point conversion late in Saturday night's loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell was visibly furious.

Lions offensive lineman Taylor Decker was flagged after catching a possible winning pass with 23 seconds left. Decker received an illegal touching penalty for not reporting eligibility. The Cowboys won 20-19 after denying the Lions' 2-point try."Would you be frustrated right now?"

Campbell said thereafter. I hate losing, and that happened. Losing upsets me. The frustration is having an L, which I dislike." QB Jared Goff said that Decker, the Lions' starting left tackle, reported as an eligible receiver, while backup offensive lineman Dan Skipper did not. Skipper later said he did not report to an official.

Skipper reported to referee Brad Allen as qualified, while Decker did not, according to a pool report. "Therefore, he is an ineligible touching a pass that goes beyond the line, which makes it a foul," Allen said inpool report. "So, the issue is, number 70 did report, number 68 did not."

Allen spoke to the Cowboys' defense after Decker spoke to him. "That conversation is where [Skipper] reports to me, and I then go to the defensive team, and I say to them, '[Skipper] has reported as an eligible receiver,' so they will be aware of who has reported," Allen said in the report.

Decker and Skipper didn't discuss the penalty in the Lions' locker room after the loss. Decker claimed he followed "exactly what Coach told me to do." Skipper stated he had "very few words that aren't going to get me fined."

Campbell instructed his team to go for the win and be aggressive with 1:41 left on Detroit's final possession with the Lions down 20-13. With 23 seconds left, Goff's 11-yard touchdown to Amon-Ra St. Brown pulled Detroit within 20-19. The Lions missed three 2-point conversions.

One Lions and one Cowboys penalty called back the first two tries, while the last play was an incomplete pass to tight end James Mitchell. Decker's flag "pretty confused" Goff.Yeah, that stinks. Poor man "Goff said. "I don't remember ever feeling like I've won but didn't. The next two plays, we had chances."
