Time magazine has named Taylor Swift the person of the year, as has apparently everyone else.

No one has gripped public discourse quite like Taylor Swift this year, so much so that Time magazine has chosen her their 2023 Person of the Year.

"This is the proudest and happiest I've ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I've ever been," she was quoted as saying.

"Ultimately, we can convolute it all we want, or try to overcomplicate it, but there's only one question: Are you not entertained?"

Swift beat off a diverse field of competitors that included Barbie, former President Donald Trump's prosecutors, and Britain's newly crowned King Charles III.

People named Swift the 2023 Most Intriguing Person of the Year, and Forbes ranked her first on its list of the world's most powerful women in media and entertainment.

Swift, a 12-time Grammy Award winner, is 33 years old and perhaps at the pinnacle of her career.

She surpassed Bad Bunny as the most-streamed artist on Spotify this year, capturing the distinction for the third year in a row.

According to Spotify Wrapped, her tracks have received over 26.1 billion streams since the beginning of the year.
